WHO WE ARE

We are a non-profit, community-based organization providing services and advocacy for individuals who experience disabilities. Many of the Independent Living Specialists who work at the LIFE Program experience disabilities themselves and provide respectful supportive services to all consumers.

EMPLOYMENT AND CAREER DEVELOPMENT

We work with local employers to learn about their specific business, employment needs, company mission, and workplace culture. We are passionate about developing long-term partnerships that benefit the business, community, and qualified job seekers.

CONNECTING EMPLOYERS WITH QUALIFIED JOB SEEKERS

We work alongside individuals to identify their strengths, values, interests, and personal career goals.  We provide support to job seekers at any stage of career development, whether it be finding their first after school job or making a major career change.

We believe that offering collaboration and support before, during, and after the hiring process leads to more successful outcomes for both employers and job seekers.

DEAF AND HARD-OF-HEARING YOUTH TRANSITION SERVICES

The LIFE Program assists high school students and recent graduates who are Deaf, Deaf-Blind, and hard-of-hearing in preparing for college, training, and employment. Our team is comprised of Deaf, hard-of-hearing, and hearing staff members who are fluent in American Sign Language. Staff are knowledgeable about assistive technology and augmentative and alternative communication systems, and ensure each individual receives services that fit their communication and cultural preferences.

We work with students to identify their passions and goals, and provide resources and support as students transition to independence.  Students explore careers through informational interviews, job shadows, and guest presenters. They also have opportunities to increase their skills, gain work experience, and invest in the community through community-based volunteer experiences.

PARTNERSHIPS TO INCREASE ACCESSIBILITY

Removing Barriers and Increasing Accessibility in Our Community

The LIFE Program assists employers who desire to increase accessibility for individuals who experience disabilities. With substantial knowledge of the Americans with Disabilities Act and extensive experience in utilizing creative problem solving, we are prepared to partner with employers to remove barriers and increase accessibility.
